6-Volt Battery Box Description
Storage batteries rated at six volts will vary in size depending on the type of battery and the brand. Our 6-volt battery box will fit batteries that measure up to 10-5/8″ long x 7-1/4″ wide x 12-1/4″ high. Please measure your battery before ordering to make sure it will fit.
This battery box is made for 6V deep-cycle, auto, marine, and RV batteries. This sturdy box is impact-resistant and will give years of protection for your battery and nearby surfaces. The cover has built-in vent channels to allow battery gases to flow out of the box with ease.
Our battery box is made of heavy-duty polypropylene. It is not harmed by battery acid, oil, gasoline, and other harsh liquids. It comes with a hold-down strap and a mounting hardware kit. This battery box is made in the USA at our plant in Ohio.
We also make other battery boxes that will fit group U1, group 24, and group 27 batteries. Our large adjustable battery box will fit any group 24, group 27, group 29, or group 31 battery. Each model includes an acid-proof cover with built-in port slots to route the cables to your battery-powered equipment.
Why is a Battery Box made of Plastic?
A battery box should be made of a material that is not affected by battery acid. This is shown by what happened when a steel battery box was made for a military vehicle. In time, the battery acid damaged the battery box to the point where it could not be used. If this were allowed to go on, the spilled electrolyte fluid from the battery would cause harm to the vehicle itself. This caused downtime to this vehicle while the battery box was being replaced.
This led to the design of a battery case made of a substance that is acid-resistant. But making a traditional metal mold for a large plastic battery box for this vehicle would not be practical due to the high cost and the low number of battery boxes that were needed. As a result, a frame was fabricated from a composite material to cast a large battery box for this vehicle. However, molding plastic battery boxes for smaller batteries is cost-effective because of the high quantities involved.
